That's not to say we don't fight occasionally... ok, frequently. But overall we both like having each other around. I used to be so bored when I was alone. My life has changed a lot since she came along. Things are very different. I am very different. See http://www.simbadog.com/she-drives-me-crazy. But overall, we're ok together. When you bring him home you should do what my folks did--let them meet outside the house first. That will give her a chance to approve him before letting him in the house.
